‘MS’ system modules (wide bus)

The use of the MS bus causes that individual packages can be combined in one housing into devices that have multiple possibilities. The MS bus is designed for use in 6U height cassettes.

PAC-012 (A/C converter)

The PAC-012 package is designed to work in the "MS" bus and is used to measure 64 voltage signals. It can operate in four ranges of input voltages, which are switched by software. The package is conventionally divisible into two measurement paths: U-voltage and I-current. The voltage path is the first 48 channels, and the current path is the remaining 16 channels. It is also possible to calibrate the measuring system in three points in both tracks.   []

PCA-001 (C/A converter)

The PCA-001 package is a D/A converter designed to work with the "MS" bus. It processes digitally controlled ±5mA current signals in 64 analog channels. The package uses 8-bit DAC-8800 converters, which ensures the accuracy of output signals at the level of ±0.5%. The DAC-8800 converter is a converter with a voltage output. The D/A converters are galvanically separated from the digital part of the system.

The voltage-to-current converters were built on TL-084 operational amplifiers. In the block of voltage-current converters, the output voltage from the converters in the range -5 ÷ +5V is converted into current in the range +5 ÷ -5mA. Converter outputs are protected against overvoltages.

In the PCA-001 package, the system of cooperation with the bus is galvanically separated from other circuits by means of double and quadruple optocouplers.   []

PEY-xxx (current inputs/outputs)

The PEY-xxx package is a binary input/output package and is designed to work with the "MS" bus. Depending on the version, it has 2, 6 or 8 pairs of inputs/outputs. One pair is the primary and backup transmitter and the other pair is the primary and backup receiver. All inputs are separated from each other. The outputs on the packet form groups of two outputs each. They are mutually separated. The connectors on the front of the package have the same layout regardless of the type of execution and include a primary and backup transmitter as well as a primary and backup receiver.

The output signal is ±20mA and the input signal is 3÷30mA at the voltage of 12÷40V.   []

PJC-8xx (central processor unit)

Not recommended for apply in new solutions

[replaced by PJC-86x]

The PJC-8xx package is a processor module for the "MS" microprocessor system controller. It performs all functions related to the exchange and processing of information. The package is the main module of the SO-55xx communication controllers of the SYNDIS and SYNDIS Argus systems, while in the distributed controllers of the SO-52v11 series it acts as a communication processor. The package can also work as an independent communication module. The PJC-8xx package has several transmission channels in the Ethernet standard.

The PJC-8xx package has the following communication channels:

  • 3x galvanically separated serial transmission channels (2x RS-232, 1x RS-485); one RS-232 is a service channel, the others can be used for communication with the object

PJC-86x (central processor unit)

The PJC-86x package is a module of the central unit used in station automation devices based on modular structures from the SO-52v11 family. The PJC-86x type CPU package is designed to perform processing functions in the bay controller. It also performs the calculations and digital transformations required for special device functions such as power calculations, protocol conversions, event logging and more. One of the basic tasks of the PJC-86x CPU package is internal communication with other BCU modules. All measurements required in the controller, acquisition of input states and control are performed by means of analog input and output modules, binary inputs, control outputs, temperature measurements and others installed in the BCU.

The PJC-86x is equipped with a set of serial fiber optic transmission channels, two RS-485 channels and two RS-232 channels, which can be software configured for various transmission standards. Communication with the BCU equipped with the PJC-86x can be carried out over up to 5 Ethernet TP or FX links at 100 Mb/s in a single or redundant structure. All Ethernet interfaces function as configured and can be identified externally as one or more interfaces. They can therefore be freely grouped and configured. Detailed assignment of communication channels to specific PJC models is described in the documentation in the product keys.

As part of communication via the internal bus, the module has a superior function in relation to the analog measurement modules, digital inputs, control outputs and communication modules. For example, these can be:

  • PTS-528 (8x serial multimode fiber optic channels, ST connector, 62.5/125 µm fiber, 2km range)
  • PTS-6xx (8x serial RS-232 channels)
  • PTS-7xx (8x RS-485 serial channels)
  • PTS-8xx (4x single-mode serial fiber channels, ST connector, 9/125um fiber, 16km range)
  • PTS-9xx (8x serial universal programmable RS232/485/422 channels)
  • MWS-2xx (32x binary inputs)
  • MSS-3xx (10x independent control outputs 5A/220VDC)
  • MSS-5xx (32x control/indication outputs (4x8 groups)
  • MSS-6xx (16x “1/n” control outputs)
  • MPL-2xx (16 analog measurements 5A/1A, 57.7V/110V/220V configurable 0÷20mA, 4÷20mA, +/- 5V, +/-10V, …)
  • MPL-5xx (32x measurements 4÷20 mA, 4x8 groups)
  • MWA-1xx (12x configurable analog outputs 0÷20mA)
  • MPT-2xx (6x channels 3/4 wired temperature measurements and analog inputs in the 4÷20 mA standard)
  • MZA-xxx (power supply)
Exemplary PJC-86x

Communication with the modules takes place via an internal bus operating in the Mikronika MS standard with two additional LVDS channels. The fiber interface channel is typically used to communicate with a CPU-cooperating security device.

The PJC-86x-xx central unit package can operate in a redundant system with another package of the same type. Packages can be physically located in the same or separate cartridges. Both packages communicate with each other during operation and synchronize internal databases. The database contains the current states of binary signals, current measurements and event buffers.

Each package can operate in one of two operating modes: active or inactive. It is not possible to have both packages in active mode at the same time. An inactive package is in a hot reserve state.  []

PKW-101 (keyboard and display control)

The PKW-101 package enables cooperation of the "MS" system controller with displays and a keyboard. It is possible to connect the following elements:

  • two blocks of 16 7-segment LED displays
  • LED matrix 32x8
  • 64-character passive keyboard in 8x8 system with two control characters Shift and Ctrl or active keyboard with 8-bit strobe output
  • adjusters or switches

The PKW-101 package can be included in the SO-55-TS synoptic board controller. The displays are controlled dynamically with a duty cycle of 1:16 and the maximum segment current is approx. 100mA (for red LED displays).   []
