TAURON Dystrybucja S.A., following the example of other Polish distribution companies, also wants to invest in transformers with on-load tap changers. One of our largest distribution partners has fallen prey to the recently announced procedure for a supervision project at six selected points in the grid.
Mikronika will provide a tap changer control solution, based on our SO-54SR family of controllers, proven in dozens of operating facilities at ENEA.
The first meeting among the contractors for this project took place at an Industry Conference in Warsaw. On 23 May, we met with Investor's representatives at the Gliwice branch of TAURON to discuss the implementation of this task. We presented our technical solution and the principle of the algorithm we had developed.
TAURON decided to use 250 and 400kVA transformers, which are primarily installed deep in the grid on overhead poles. This means, that only the controller type SO-54SR-321-AVR (operating the AVR automation, i.e. the MV/NV transformer tap changer) and the controller type SO-54SR-371-AVRS (as voltage sensors deep in the LV grid) will be used.
The supervision is expected to be completed within the next six months and the findings are intended to serve the developer primarily for the purposes of upgrading the grid for efficient operation of photovoltaic installations.
